[Session 1-1] Exposure and Resilience to Extreme Heat Events

Presenter: Chaosu LI, PhD

Assistant professor of urban planning at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)

Bio: Dr. Chaosu LI is an assistant professor of urban planning at the Urban Governance and Design Thrust of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and an affiliate assistant professor at the Division of Public Policy of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill). He has expertise in urban planning for climate change and urban big data analytics. His work has been published in the Journal of the American Planning Association(JAPA), Journal of Planning Education and Research(JPER), Environment and Planning A, Environment and Planning B, Land Use Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy and Buildings, plus other journals. Dr. Li's research projects have been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the joint funding scheme of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, the Macao Foundation, among others.

Associate Professor at Southeast University

Bio: Dr. Wei Wang is an associate Professor in the School of Architecture, Southeast University, Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China. His research areas mainly focus on the sustainable urban design, urban building energy model, resilient urban system.

[Session 2] Leveraging Large Language Models for Urban Planning

Presenter: Xinyu Fu, PhD

Senior lecturer of environmental planning at the University of Waikato, New Zealand

Bio: Xinyu Fu is a senior lecturer of environmental planning at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. His current research interests center on flood risk management, agent-based modeling, and AI applications in planning. He has published over 30 research articles in top journals such as JAPA, JPL, Cities, and Urban Studies. Xinyu’s work is currently funded by the MBIE Endeavour Fund and EQC.
