Speaker: Dr. Jianxiang Huang from University of Hongkong
Topic: Sustainable High-Density Cities - Evidence and Lessons from Hong Kong

Short Bio:
Jianxiang Huang is an assistant professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong. He serves as the director of the Sustainable High Density Cities Lab, a multi-disciplinary research group. He has led many research projects on human behaviors and exposure to heat, noise, air pollutions, and infectious disease risks. He also studies the human-built environment interactions through the lens of “urban new data”, i.e., social media, POI, behavioral data, and wellbeing. He developed a series of design and planning software tools to assess urban heat island mitigation, building energy efficiency, traffic noise mitigation, and enhance of occupant thermal comfort. Software tools developed based on his research have been applied in real-world projects internationally. Jianxiang teaches the urban design and analytics curriculum at the University of Hong Kong. He is LEED accredited professional and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
