2014 GIR Training Program for GHG Inventory & Mitigation Modeling
* Introduction of GIR
Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea (GIR), a
government institute aliated with Korean Ministry of Environment,
serves as a think-tank on GHG inventory & mitigation. GIR
manages the National GHG Management System, supports
establishing national & sectoral GHG reduction targets and
conducts research on GHG mitigation modeling. For global
networking and cooperation, GIR organizes Cooperative Green
Growth Modeling Forum (C2GMF) and International Modeling
Conference (IMC) as well as its unique training program.
* GIR Training Program
GIR has been running an international training program on GHG
inventory & mitigation modeling to nurture global GHG experts
since 2011. During the three-to-four week program, Korean
trainees will be provided quality lectures of international experts
and opportunities to network with other international trainees
through a variety of activities.
- A certicate of completion will be awarded to all trainees who
successfully nish the program.
- Excellent trainees will be given a monetary reward during and
after the program based upon their performance.
* Eligibility
- Current government ocials, researchers, or consultants in the
eld of GHG mitigation or climate change response
- Individuals who are currently in or have nished a graduate-level
or higher academic course in GHG-related elds (A bachelor’s
degree may be acceptable upon evaluation.)
- Individuals who are capable of understanding lectures and
giving presentations in English (Candidates may need to take an
English oral test via phone.)
- Individuals who are 44 or less years old
* Requirement
- It does not apply to Korean applicants.

*Selection Criteria
Relevance of an applicant’s education or career to the program
curriculum, competency in English, potential for contributing to
his/her country’s GHG inventory preparation & mitigation in future.
