Hutt, it is said in occidental tradition, is the beginning of architecture. This idea come from Vitruve and continue until Laugier and some others. I think, on the contrary, hutt has nothing to do with architecture – or let say, very few.
Builted with founded stuffs or with naturals elements their construction follow no plan et they have more to do with bricolage than with what we call « project ». They have also more to do with a psychological place than with a real one. Freud but also Winnicot give us some insights on that point. The game caracterised this place and is linked to childhood of everyone as well as of mankind
We don’t dwell in a hutt we just stop to pass through even if, like H.D. Thoreau the american writer and philosopher, we try to live there as he did during two years near Walden Pound. The difference between inside and outside, uper and under, does’nt really exist in this type of construction and this have many conséquences on our « being – in - the – world ».
These are the lines I would like to develop in this conference, with images showing real or false hutts and trying also to understand how artists, in making hutts or objects looking like, are questionning the world we inhabit.
