Students in Environmental Management explore the fundamental causes of environmental problems and seek their solutions across diverse fields, based on scientific understanding of the organic relationship between human activities and the environment. Environmental problems are approached from socioeconomic, legal, ecological, and engineering perspectives. The direct and indirect effects of environmental pollution on the environmental system and its relationship to the human settlement system are studied for possible measures for improvements.<\/p>
The faculty members have a range of specializations unparalleled in Korea. Studies in Environmental Management include sustainable socioeconomic development; scientific, economic, and policy studies on climate change; environmental and energy policy; political economy of the environment and energy; cost-benefit analysis of government projects and economic policies; analysis of air and water pollution; waste management and the dynamics of hazardous materials; biogeochemical cycles of elements; and the study of traditional Korean ecology from cultural and scientific perspectives. Students learn a variety of research methodologies including statistical analysis, chemical analysis, quantitative analysis, model development, surveying, and data collection in the laboratory and the field to conduct research in their specific sub-fields.<\/p>
Graduates make full use of their abilities in diverse fields not only in academia and research centers but also in public organizations, industries, central and regional governments, political circles, and NGO\u2019s.
